DIY Eye Creams for Healthier Skin Around Your Eyes

Making your own eye serum is a great way to keep the skin around your eyes healthy, without depending on commercial skin care products. The majority of skin care products contain chemicals and additives, some of which you may never have heard of before. Instead of using products with strange ingredients, make your own products from fresh, natural ingredients.

The following eye serums should be able to help reduce the appearance of dark circles, tighten your skin to prevent wrinkles and crow’s feet, and improve the elasticity and health of your skin. If you want to keep the skin around your eyes healthy, then try using one of these eye serums.

Aloe Vera and Almond Oil Eye Serum

This particular eye serum is easy to make and only requires two ingredients. You do not need to measure anything or deal with a complicated recipe. Anyone can make this eye serum without any problems.

The only ingredients needed are almond oil and Aloe Vera gel. Both ingredients are incredibly beneficial to your skin – helping to hydrate your skin while attacking free radicals and promoting healthier skin. Whether you have dry, irritate skin or you want to reduce the signs of aging, try using this eye serum.

To make your miracle eye serum, combine equal parts Aloe Vera gel and almond oil. You can pour the mixture into a small bottle. Shake the mixture to combine the ingredients and shake before each application.

Variations and Adjustments

For more of a moisturizing effect, you can add a little more almond oil. If you think that it provides too much oil, you could add a little more Aloe Vera gel. If you suffer from nut allergies, you may want to substitute the almond oil with apricot kernel oil.

One of the great parts of making your own eye serum, or any other homemade skin care solution, is that you can choose what ingredients to include and adjust the recipe as needed. While the combination of almond oil and Aloe Vera gel should help your skin, you may want to include a few additional ingredients.

There are many essential oils that could help promote healthier skin. This includes the use of lemon, lavender, and coconut oil. If you want to try using coconut oil, replace the almond oil with the coconut oil.

If you want to include other essential oils, such as lavender or lemon, simply add about five drops of the oil to your previous oil and Aloe Vera gel mixture. Lemon essential oil can be used to enhance the properties found in the almond oil while the lavender essential oil can help provide nourishment to your eyelashes and follicles.

Firming Eye Gel

After using the miracle eye serum, if you find that it does not do enough to firm the skin around your eyes and prevent wrinkles, then there is another option that you could try. This firming eye gel also uses Aloe Vera gel as a base ingredient but include a variety of other oils, instead of using almond oil. Here are the ingredients for a firming eye gel:

  • 1 ½ tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel
  • 1 teaspoon of coffee
  • 1 teaspoon of Witch Hazel
  • 2 drops of cypress essential oil

Combine all of the ingredients in a small bottle and shake well. This is the easiest way to mix the ingredients. As with the miracle eye serum, you can adjust this recipe as needed. Feel free to add a little more of one oil or substitute oils.

The firming eye gel should be applied in the morning. To apply the gel, place a small dab on your fingertips and carefully massage into your skin. When applying any eye cream or serum you should use caution to avoid getting the cream into your eyes. For the most part, you may only notice minor irritation if some of the mixtures get in your eyes, but it is always a good idea to be cautious and try to keep the serum out of your eyes.

Hydrating Eye Serum

The next eye serum uses vitamin E and vegetable glycerin to provide more hydration to your eyes. It is a light moisturizer that is able to help hydrate your skin, without making your face greasy. You can add this serum to a bottle and apply using your fingertips or add it to a small glass pump bottle. Here are the ingredients needed for the hydrating eye serum:

  • ¼ cup of Aloe Vera gel
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin
  • 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil
  • 1 vitamin E capsule
  • 4 drops of lavender essential oil

Make sure that you remember to shake the bottle before each application. This eye serum should be stored in your refrigerator, especially if you do not think that you will use it up within the next week or two.

The inclusion of jojoba oil in this recipe should help add oil to your skin and provide a more even tone. It will not block your pores and can actually help to even out your oil levels.

Rest Your Eyes with Cucumbers

Each of these eye serums can be applied once per day, but if you notice that you still have dark circles under your eyes, then you may want to include a few other steps to promote healthier skin around your eyes. You may need to rest your eyes more often. This means taking the time to lay down and rest cucumbers on your eyelids.

Cut a cucumber into large slices and lay down. Place the slices directly on top of your closed eyes and lay still for at least twenty minutes. Afterward, rinse your face with cold water. The cold water should help constrict blood vessels, which can help to tighten your skin.

Achieving healthy, vibrant skin is not difficult, especially when you have help from a homemade eye cream. Try each of these three recipes to decide which eye serum you like best. Before long, you should notice that your crow’s feet and wrinkles begin to diminish.
